Understanding the Match Score
What the Match percentage means — harmonic keys, Camelot, and tempo compatibility.

The Match score estimates how naturally two tracks will mix together. It blends two things DJs care about most: whether the songs are in compatible musical keys, and how close their tempos are.

Harmonic key
StemFM maps each track’s key onto the Camelot wheel, a system that groups keys so neighbours sound consonant together. Tracks in the same or adjacent Camelot positions score highest, because their melodies and basslines layer without clashing.
Tempo
The closer two tracks are in BPM, the less StemFM has to stretch one to line them up, and the more natural the blend. Large tempo gaps lower the score.
The overall number
- A high score means both the key and the tempo line up well.
- A mid score usually means one factor fits and the other needs a little work.
