Stem 2 puts the full StemFM experience in your hand. It is a Bluetooth speaker you can talk through, split songs on, and remix in real time.

Power and connect

  1. 1

    Turn on Stem 2

Hold the slot-shaped power button for about 3 seconds until the lights come on.

  2. 2

    Pair over Bluetooth

On first power-on the center LED pulses to show pairing mode. Open your device’s Bluetooth menu and tap Stem2.

  3. 3

    Reconnect or disconnect

Tap the Bluetooth button to reconnect to your last device; hold it to disconnect.

Turn any song into a mix

  1. 1

    Play a song over Bluetooth

Start audio from your phone or computer. (MacBook Bluetooth metadata is not supported.)

  2. 2

    Hold the STEM button

It is the small circular button next to the track buttons. Holding it splits the currently playing song.

  3. 3

    Wait for the split

A circular animation plays. Green means it is downloading; red means it failed. After about 10–40 seconds the Stem track plays locally.

  4. 4

    Switch between stems

Tap a stem pad to move between compatible stems.

Shape the sound

  • Hold a stem pad to isolate that stem from the rest.
  • Hard-press a stem pad to turn it on and off.
  • Tap the center LED to play and pause.

Loop and speed

  • Tap the power button once to open the loop menu, then hold a stem pad to set the loop length.
  • Tap the power button twice to open the speed menu, then tap a pad to ramp up or slow down.
  • Tap the power button again to cycle back to normal play.

Navigate and shuffle

  • Skip with the track buttons — forward for next, back for previous. Hold during local playback to fast-forward or rewind.
  • Adjust volume with + and −.
  • Hold the STEM button and tap the power button together to shuffle your mixes.
  • Press both track buttons together to jump to the next station.

Charging and power off

  • Charge over USB-C. The indicator shows red for low, orange for medium, and green for full.
  • Shut down by holding the power button until the lights turn off. Release early to cancel.
